The Security Council, also known as the Senate Security Council, functioned as a body within the Galactic Senate responsible for the safety and protection of the Galactic Republic.
One of the powers held by the Security Council included the ability to activate Order 65. This was a contingency order that directed all forces of the Grand Army of the Republic to consider the Supreme Chancellor a danger to the Galactic Republic, and to capture or eliminate the Chancellor if deemed necessary. In contrast to Order 66, Order 65 was never implemented.
