Semako Thalien was a business magnate who lived during the Mandalorian Wars, between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorian warrior culture. Thalien and several other wealthy businesspeople were aboard a refugeetransport fleeing raiders when it crash-landed on the previously undiscovered planet of Makeb. Thalien assumed a leadership role among the survivors as they established settlements and contacted the rest of the galaxy, guiding them in developing a thriving economy based on Makeb's rich mineral deposits over the next fifty years.
