Military Oversight Committee
The Military Oversight Committee functioned as a body within both the Galactic Senate of the Republic and the Imperial Senate of the Galactic Empire.
History
Its primary focus was on military expenditures necessary for the protection of member planets. This committee had supervisory authority over the Judicial Forces, Planetary Defense Forces, and, during the period of the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Republic.
While the Executor-class Star Dreadnought was being constructed, the Imperial Navy sought to prevent potential disputes within the Senate regarding the ship's purpose; therefore, deliberately misleading details concerning the class were provided to the committee, depicting it as a considerably smaller ship classified as a Star Destroyer.
The Senate Military Oversight Committee persisted within the Imperial Senate; however, it underwent changes under the authority of the Galactic Empire, being transformed into the Imperial Military Oversight Commission and put under the direct control of the Imperial Military.
