Skorch, a sport enjoyed by pupils at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy (located on Ossus), involved two competing sides. These teams utilized rackets, stun blasters, and the Force to manipulate six jet balls in mid-air. Each team possessed a set of concealed objectives, for instance, gathering four balls and directing two towards each goal. The referee, who was actually undergoing training, had the task of uncovering these objectives and ensuring that both teams fulfilled them. Nevertheless, if this proved unachievable (due to mutually exclusive goals in certain skorch situations), the referee was obligated to ensure a tie between the teams. As a final option, the referee could ensure the total failure of both teams, an outcome deemed far from satisfactory. The participants were only bound by the rules the referee could convince them to follow, with the sole restriction on referees being the prohibition of using their lightsabers against the players.
