A type of explosive called a sleeper bomb was designed to be affixed, in an inactive state, to its target to prevent discovery. Upon activation, the device would slowly accumulate the energy required for detonation from a local power source, thus further obscuring its presence. One such sleeper bomb was employed to damage the hull of the Millennium Falcon on its journey to Ammuud during the year 2 BBY.
