The sleeper pod represents one of the initial spaceships known to possess the capacity for interstellar journeys. These vessels, crafted on Alderaan even preceding the formation of the Old Republic, featured rudimentary chemical propulsion systems, were likely limited to sublight velocities, and incorporated technology to sustain occupants in a state of cryogenic suspension.

A solitary sleeper pod, at a minimum, endured until the era of the New Republic. This particular vessel was among the various ships and vehicles that Palpatine had deposited within the storage facility at Mount Tantiss. Positioned inside a display hangar situated far within the mountain's depths, it stood as one of the rare sections to withstand the base's obliteration in 9 ABY. Subsequently, the New Republic xenoarchaeology squad, under the direction of Garv Debble, successfully retrieved it undamaged.
