An SLM represented a missile system designed to be launched from the shoulder, intended for use against aerial targets.
This shoulder-launched missile, or SLM, was inserted into a launch tube; however, it required a period to become fully armed. The operator of the launcher was equipped with a visor that projected target tracking information directly into their field of vision, alongside an earplug that communicated the target lock status through auditory cues.

During an assault on [his farm](link url) by a [Corellian light freighter](link url), he tried to use it for defense, but the missile's arming delay proved fatal. He perished when the freighter's laser weaponry struck one of his SLMs. Subsequently, [Rebels](link url) commanded by [Morgan Katarn](link url) defended the [G-Tap](link url) and [Trol](link url) with [Jen](link url) as a member of the missile squad. They met a similar fate while attempting to engage the same freighter.
