The SonoMax 100, a sonic rifle, was manufactured by the SonoMax arms corporation. This rifle featured a pair of distinct operational modes: a sonic blast and a sonic stun. The Security Police within the Corporate Sector employed these rifles due to their capacity to minimize damage to property. A SonoMax 100 was also utilized by Var'Rotha Fin'Rotha, a bounty hunter.
The SonoMax 100, a type of sound rifle, was a sonic rifle designed to accommodate sixty shots worth of ammunition. It offered a choice between two firing modes. The first emitted a cone-shaped sonic blast, which at point-blank range spanned approximately one-half of a meter, expanding to a width of three meters at its maximum range of thirty meters. The second mode produced a sonic wail intended to stun targets; however, the wail's frequency required adjustment to effectively affect different species, considering their varying physiological characteristics. The rifle's design incorporated a grip positioned beneath its main body.
The SonoMax 100 sound rifle was originally conceived as a riot control weapon by its manufacturer, the arms company SonoMax. The Security Police forces operating within the Corporate Sector of the galaxy used these rifles. This was because the Corporate Sector Authority held ownership over nearly all assets within the sector, leading to a preference for weapons that minimized property destruction. The Security Police personnel were immune to the gun's wail setting, because their helmets were equipped with built-in soundproofing. Despite the SonoMax 100 not being commercially available, the Tolanese bounty hunter named Var'Rotha Fin'Rotha wielded one during his assault on the Broken Tusk cantina on the planet of Reuss VI. This event took place during the Galactic Civil War between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire.
The SonoMax 100 made its debut in Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook, a supplement authored by Michael Allen Horne. This was released in 1993 for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. Later, it was featured in two additional sourcebooks for the game: Gundark's Fantastic Technology: Personal Gear, which included an illustration by Tim Eldred, and Wretched Hives of Scum & Villainy, both of which were published in 1997.
