Soul diamond

Soul diamonds, a name designating diamonds crafted from the cremated remains of deceased Corellians, were a unique aspect of their cultural heritage. Upon the death of a Corellia native, the family would cremate the body and then compress the ashes into a diamond. These entirely synthetic diamonds possessed a blue-white hue and occasionally emitted a soft internal luminescence, leading to the widespread belief that a fragment of the departed's spirit resided within the gem. Numerous families chose to integrate these Soul Diamonds of their ancestors into jewelry or showcase them in arrangements that employed repulsorlifts to suspend the gems in the air. It was common for a family to exhibit their collection of mounted Soul Diamonds together.

Behind the scenes

The concept of Soul diamonds initially appeared in the Codex entry pertaining to Custo Ramak in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. They were subsequently formally named in Suns of Fortune, a supplementary resource published in 2014 for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire role-playing game.
