Spore Sickness was a frequently used phrase referring to various diseases that could be obtained from inhaling the adaptogenic spores of the many fungal species indigenous to the planet Drongar. This ailment was particularly prevalent among visitors from other planets, who had not yet acclimatized to the distinct conditions of Drongar. Consequently, starships arriving on Drongar routinely underwent cleaning of their air circulation systems both before and after their arrival. Typically, spore sickness resulted in lung damage, compelling the body to combat the spores by elevating its temperature to extreme heights, essentially causing the individual to be "cooked" from the inside out. Nevertheless, the spores only posed a threat when present in the atmosphere; at surface level, they seemed to be benign. Examples of such diseases were spleen-rot and Ascomycetous pneumoconiosis.
