Star Wars: Battle for the Republic
title: Star Wars: Battle for the Republic
In 2005, Amplified Games created a mobile strategy title called Star Wars: Battle for the Republic, which was then released by THQ Wireless. The game, which takes place during the era of the Clone Wars, puts players in command of either the Galactic Republic or the Confederacy of Independent Systems as they vie for dominance over the galaxy.
Gameplay
Star Wars: Battle for the Republic presents each game as a turn-based affair on a square grid, where players direct their units by moving them one square at a time. Combat is initiated by moving your unit's square onto an enemy unit's square. This triggers a close-up animation of the ensuing battle. At the conclusion of the battle, the losing side's troops are removed from the grid. While units are limited to moving only one square per turn, players can utilize Transports to instantly relocate troops to any unoccupied square via hyperspace jumps.
Beyond the standard infantry units, the game also includes two specialized unit types: Battleships and Shields. Battleships enhance the movement capabilities of troops and provide a boost to their combat effectiveness. Shields, on the other hand, bolster the defensive strength of units, but at the cost of their mobility. Unique heroes also appear, each granting different combat bonuses.
The game offers two distinct campaign modes: one for the Separatists and another for the Republic. The Separatist campaign, comprised of eight missions, must be completed first to unlock the Republic campaign, which also features eight missions.
