SKYWALKER DATA PAD ENTRY

LOCATION: TATOOINE

In what feels like a mere half-day, my entire reality has been upended. The homestead, my aunt and uncle.... They are no more, annihilated by the Empire. Throughout my existence, I've yearned for something significant to occur in my life. Now that it has come to pass, I'm uncertain of my ability to cope with it.

Continuity

The book indicates that while searching for the escaped R2-D2 within the Jundland Wastes, Luke Skywalker carried a blaster pistol for self-defense. This clashes with the film's depiction, where Skywalker is armed with a slugthrower. Furthermore, the book asserts that Obi-Wan Kenobi severed Cornelius Evazan's arm; however, in the film, Kenobi dismembers Ponda Baba's limb.

During Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa's attempt to flee Imperial stormtroopers on the Death Star, Skywalker retrieves a rope and grappling hook from his belt. Originally featured in A New Hope, this rope was identified as part of a stormtrooper's utility belt. Conversely, the novel specifies that the rope was previously employed by Skywalker to extract droids from Tatooine sinkholes.

The book claims that Gold Leader successfully launched his proton torpedoes during Gold Squadron's assault during the Battle of Yavin. This contradicts the film, where Gold Leader is downed by Darth Vader before he can fire.

General Jan Dodonna is incorrectly addressed as an admiral.
