Starlog was a periodical focused on science-fiction in film and television, with a total run of 374 editions, spanning from August of 1976 to April of 2009. It was originally planned to be a magazine exclusively about Star Trek, but its focus broadened to encompass all science-fiction works in film and television. The publication provided extensive coverage of the Star Wars series. Starlog Yearbook was also published by the magazine.
Even though it was not an officially licensed publication of Lucasfilm, Starlog featured numerous articles written by people who worked on official Star Wars projects, such as the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland and the Ewoks TV show. A portion of this material presented unique in-universe details regarding Star Wars Legends canon.
Starlog Communications International, Inc., the magazine's publisher, was also responsible for publishing the The Official Star Wars Technical Journal series.
