Storyteller

Tusken Raiders A Tusken shaman recounting a tale. Within a Tusken Raider clan, the Storyteller was a unique individual. Their sole purpose was to pass down the history of their people. Each clan of Sand People had only a single Storyteller, and they were required to memorize all the lore from the Storyteller who came before them. From birth, apprentices were taught the stories. An apprentice in training would almost never make a mistake when speaking. Altering the details of a story carried a death sentence.

It was more common for storytellers to perish in combat than to incorrectly recite the story. A tribe that lost its storyteller also lost its history, rendering it "not worthy" to continue existing. Internal conflict would then result in the tribe's destruction.
