Stronghold, a planet located far away, was known for its frigid temperatures, turbulent weather, and isolated location. The Rebel Alliance utilized it as a safe world. The planet's surface was sparsely populated with life. The Alliance constructed a network of caverns and subterranean passages, providing refuge for the families of rebel troops. The underground Rebel base had capacity for about 250 civilians.
Occasionally, Stronghold served as a detention facility for captured Imperial officers. The starship Celestial was en route to Stronghold, transporting a group of prisoners, when it vanished within otherspace.
The Charon launched an invasion of the planet, emerging from otherspace. The Rebels successfully repelled the invasion, resulting in the destruction of the Charon flagship, the Desolate. Tole Warren was among the small number of Charon survivors from the assault.
