The Sublight Products Corporation, often shortened to Subpro, operated as a producer of starships and was situated in the Inner Rim region. In comparison to rival producers, it was viewed as a lower-tier entity, primarily serving customers consisting of captains navigating less-traveled hyperlanes.
Established and controlled by a collective of Trandoshan shipwrights, Subpro's location was distant from the Core Worlds. Despite offering competitive pricing and relatively high quality, the company was seen as a second-rate manufacturer. Subpro entered into a collaborative venture with the Incom Corporation around 147 BBY, working together on the design and production of several starfighters sharing similar design characteristics. However, Subpro was never fully recognized for its design contributions. Notable results of this collaboration included the Z-95 Headhunter and the ARC-170 starfighter.
While Subpro's range of medium combat cruisers and sublight fighters gained relatively quick market acceptance, they did not achieve the same level of popularity as those from competing manufacturers. Their designs could be found on remote planets throughout the galaxy, and their freighter models significantly trailed behind those produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation in terms of market presence.
