The Support Service Branch functioned as a segment within the Imperial Navy, tasked with delivering auxiliary services. These services were designed to enable Imperial Navy staff to effectively perform their roles. Its duties encompassed specialized infrastructure, including medical, navigational, communications, and weaponry systems. Key components of this branch included Ordnance, which handled the setup and upkeep of weapon systems; Gunnery, which furnished the workforce to operate the weapons; Communications, which oversaw data networks and message exchange; Biological, entrusted with healthcare and scientific investigation; and Astrogation, which managed concerns related to hyperspace and navigational operations.
