The Dellaltians, also called Swimming People of Dellalt or simply Swimmers, were sentient sauropteroids that lived in the lakes of Dellalt, where they originated. These creatures were sizable, possessing small heads atop lengthy, powerful necks, along with four flippers for aquatic locomotion and stubby, weighty tails. The color of their skin ranged from a pale gray to shades of green and black.
Instead of nostrils, the Swimmers had blowholes situated on the crowns of their heads, and a nictitating membrane shielded their eyes. Their oral cavities contained numerous pointed, acute teeth, which served both for capturing piscine prey and for protection.
The Swimmers, as a species, exhibited territorial behaviors and adhered to a collection of rules that dictated their societal structure. They offered transport services, conveying individuals and goods across the lakes they inhabited via rafts for a specified payment.
The Swimmers communicated using a version of Galactic Basic that was inflected with a particular accent, shaping the words with their mouths.
