Tag Rogaren was a male Human hailing from Alderaan, who served the Galactic Empire. Rogaren held the position of chief weapon systems engineer during the construction phase of the first Death Star. He was the individual who both conceptualized and constructed the superlaser array of that battle station. Following the destruction of Alderaan at the hands of the Empire, Rogaren carried a heavy burden of responsibility for the event. He resided on the Audacity, a worn Venator-class Star Destroyer, surrounded by remnants of his lost homeworld. Eventually, Rogaren's path crossed with that of Leia Organa, the princess of Alderaan and a celebrated figure in the Rebellion in the Graveyard of Alderaan. Upon the princess's realization of his identity, she aimed her blaster at him. As Rogaren voiced his remorse and acceptance of death, the princess relented, lowering her weapon and departing the Audacity, choosing to leave his fate to the Galactic War Crimes Tribunal rather than executing him outright.
Sometime after this encounter, Darth Vader—the armored cyborg and trusted enforcer of the Galactic Emperor Palpatine—discovered evidence that a fighter bearing the insignia of the Rebel Alliance had visited Rogaren's location. Consequently, Vader summoned Rogaren for interrogation. Despite the threat of physical harm, Rogaren stood firm, refusing to divulge the identity of his visitor, asserting that the individual was merely an innocent pilgrim with no ties to the Rebels. Finding himself unable to extract information, Vader ultimately ended Rogaren's life by killing him, using his powerful cybernetic hand to strangle the Alderaanian.
