Manufactured by Adar Tallon, a tactician from the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Tala 1 was a Z-95t Headhunter. This starfighter was produced during the Galactic Civil War, a conflict between the Alliance and the Galactic Empire. Like all Z-95t Headhunters, Tala 1 was equipped with a class 3 hyperdrive. This addition allowed the fighter to operate independently, without the need for support from a capital ship. Furthermore, the Z-95t Headhunter model boasted enhanced maneuverability compared to the original Z-95 Headhunter, and Tala 1 itself had been extensively modified.
By 4 ABY, Tala 1 served within the Tala Squadron of the Alliance. It was operationally tasked with providing support to Alliance Special Forces commandos who were led by Crix Madine, an Alliance general. Colonel Airen Cracken, an Alliance spy and scout, piloted Tala 1. Cracken frequently flew missions to support Madine's commando unit.
The creation of Tala 1 occurred in 2000 for the Death Star II Limited expansion of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game by Decipher.
