Talk: Karen Traviss
Unbelievable. This level of selective editing reminds me of Pat Lee's Wikipedia page.
To be frank, this kind of sanitization is quite disappointing. Setting aside the debates about "who was more at fault" or who was right or wrong, I can understand wanting to remain neutral. However, the deliberate omission of all controversies from her page, while keeping them in the respective story sections, is disheartening. These controversies were a key aspect of her notoriety within the fandom and, indeed, a significant factor in her notability as a Star Wars author. The argument that certain comments are unsourcable due to self-editing seems questionable, especially given that including a "(retrieved on)" date is standard practice for internet citations. Moreover, a search of online archives reveals that no one even attempted to consult internet archiving sites for complete versions of her posts. I've been a frequent lurker here, occasionally editing articles (though this was before I had my current ISP), and I never even looked at this article until today. I wish I had sooner. The inconsistent and overly protective treatment this article has received is truly sad. Turk198.146.54.181 06:12, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Given that nearly nine months have passed since the initial concern about the controversy section was raised, and no improvements have been made, I've decided to take a decisive step and remove it entirely. In my opinion, the article is better off without it. -Thunderforge 03:00, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
The Clone Wars
I simply wanted to express my strong appreciation for Star Wars. I particularly enjoy reading the books. I am drawn to the Clone series because it vividly portrays the feelings of the clones during the war and their growing desire for independence as they learned more about life. Regarding the Jedi/Mando relationship, it has historically been strained, so there's no need to soften it. The Mandalorians and Jedi have a mutual dislike. I believe that the author, Karen Traviss, has done an exceptional job in portraying this. Furthermore, she did not portray all Jedi as being bad or in the wrong. In the latest book, 501st, she depicts an old Jedi Master realizing his personal failings because his soldiers did not feel comfortable confiding in him. This demonstrates personal growth on his part. I believe she has done a remarkable job with this series. I would be very disappointed to see it discontinued. —Unsigned comment by 71.49.68.67 (talk • contribs).
- It seems you both are missing the point that this space is intended for discussing the article itself, not the subject of the article. SenatorConfer (talk) 06:52, June 22, 2018 (UTC)
