Tambles were beings of small stature whose survival depended on water. A lack of water caused the Tambles to shrink in height and become more slender. Conversely, when they encountered water, they expanded in size, enabling them to bounce or float on the surface of rivers. The Tambles possessed webbed appendages, featuring three fingers on each hand and three toes on each foot. Furthermore, they were characterized by large blue eyes, with some individuals also exhibiting eyelashes.
