TC-72

TC-72, a TC-series protocol droid, functioned as an employee of Jabba Desilijic Tiure. On one occasion, she was assigned to accompany the smuggler Han Solo during a journey to Gamorr. While the droid failed to win Solo's favor, she proved vital to the negotiation process.

Biography

During the era when Emperor Palpatine ruled, TC-72 served within Jabba's criminal empire. The crime lord Jabba the Hutt dispatched his preferred smugglers, Han Solo and Chewbacca, to Gamorr with the mission of acquiring additional guards. Their main contact was a Gamorrean farmer, necessitating the use of a translator for discussions. Solo initially declined to collaborate with a droid, but Jabba coerced him by threatening to award the contract to BoShek. Solo relented, and the trio boarded his vessel, the Millennium Falcon. During the voyage through hyperspace, TC-72 did not endear herself to the smuggler due to her constant chatter. Ultimately, Solo silenced her vocabulator with tape and confined her to the cargo hold.

Upon landing, Solo removed the tape, allowing her to negotiate with their contact. Solo mistakenly assumed the farmer's gender and offended her. As she was about to attack him, TC-72 issued an apology on behalf of the rude smuggler. Following further discussions, the smugglers left with the guards and a package of snoruuks.

Personality and traits

TC-72 possessed an officious nature and a tendency to speak excessively, much to the annoyance of those around her.

Behind the scenes

TC-72 was a supporting character that Ryder Windham created for his young-reader novel Adventures in Hyperspace: Shinbone Showdown, published in 2010.
