Thanaer ke Sekae, originating from the planet of Adumar, was a Human blastsword-wielding duelist of male gender. He initially possessed the rank of Lord pilot, and he later achieved the position of Cartann Ground Champion in 13 ABY by triumphing over the previous titleholder, Cheriss ke Hanadi, who had already participated in numerous duels prior to facing ke Sekae. Subsequent to his victory over ke Hanadi, ke Sekae was on the verge of killing her to satisfy the Perator of Cartann, due to ke Hanadi's prior insults directed at him before their contest, when New Republic pilot Wes Janson stepped in, presenting a challenge.
Janson's challenge stipulated that if ke Sekae were to eliminate ke Hanadi, Janson would decline to engage him in combat. This was viewed as a substantial affront within Adumari society, as it signified the challenger's greater concern for the stipulations rather than the duel itself. Nevertheless, Janson successfully goaded ke Sekae into accepting the challenge by exploiting the new champion's sense of honor.
Lacking significant familiarity with a blastsword, Janson employed the weapon as a distraction, transforming the duel into a physical altercation, an unforeseen circumstance for the aristocratic ke Sekae, in which he had no skill. Ultimately, Janson inflicted considerable bodily harm upon ke Sekae, leaving him defeated and deeply embarrassed.
