The Clone Wars Episode Guides were complimentary articles found on StarWars.com that offered an in-depth examination of each episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television program. These guides initially appeared on October 3, 2008, coinciding with the release of Ambush, the series' inaugural episode. Typically, a preliminary version of the guide, featuring a link to the episode preview, a brief summary, and release details, was made available before the episode's broadcast. Following the episode's airing, the guide was updated with the majority of its content. Approximately a week later, a final update included a link to stream the complete episode on StarWars.com.
In September of 2011, StarWars.com underwent a redesign, leading to the removal of all existing episode guides. These were subsequently replaced with entirely new guides.
Currently, the episode guides generally include the following elements: the moral of the episode (the statement displayed during the theme music, after the introductory graphic, and preceding the episode itself); a synopsis; an article from The Clone Wars Rewatch, a published series on StarWars.com; video content (comprising a highlight reel from the specific episode and behind-the-scenes featurette content); and a gallery (containing an Episode Gallery, a Concept Art Gallery, and a Trivia Gallery, which provides previously unknown production details).
Each episode's Guide encompasses the following features:
- Links to the associated webcomic and HoloNet News Podcast (when applicable)
- Links directing to the episode preview, commentary, and the full episode
- The episode's original broadcast date and production number
- Identification of key characters, locations, and significant events within the episode
- A complete listing of writers, directors, and members of the voice cast
- A comprehensive and detailed synopsis, often revealing information not explicitly depicted in the episode
- A collection of images from the episode, alongside a gallery showcasing production-related imagery
- A compilation of trivia and noteworthy details extracted from the episode
- Memorable quotations from the episode
- Hyperlinks to pertinent articles and databank entries located on StarWars.com
- A slideshow gallery exhibiting episode content, concept art, and trivia items
- A commentary featurette
- A "Relationships" section providing links to relevant Encyclopedia entries
