Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1991 video game)

The Empire Strikes Back is a video game that came out in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and it was made after a similar game that was based on the original Star Wars movie.

This is the second video game of a trilogy of games based on The Empire Strikes Back that were made for home video game consoles. Before this one, there was a version for the Atari 2600, and after it, there was Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for the SNES.

A converted version of the game was also launched on the Nintendo Game Boy. This version was reprinted and sold by different companies over a three-year period.

Gameplay

The game's goal involves destroying an Imperial Probe Droid, escaping from an ice cave filled with Wampas, fighting in the Battle of Hoth, meeting Master Yoda on Dagobah for training, and trying to save your friends from Darth Vader in Cloud City. As Luke Skywalker, you can use a blaster pistol or a lightsaber to fight. Players have the option to ride a tauntaun. Furthermore, you can pilot a snowspeeder during the Battle of Hoth.

Sequel

Because the Empire game was released near the end of the NES's lifespan, a game based on Return of the Jedi was never made or released, even though the game hinted at it in the ending text. Super Star Wars for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released almost a year later in 1992.
