Thermal detonator tape served as an explosive method for opening doors that were sealed shut. This tape, comprised of a simple adhesive mixed together with detonite gel, was capable of creating openings in the majority of sealed hatches. In the initial engagement of the Clone Wars on the planet of Geonosis, specifically the first battle, Darman, who was a Republic commando, employed thermal tape to affix a thermal detonator onto a blast door that was triple-sealed. The purpose of breaching this door was to allow Delta Squad to proceed; however, the presence of dirt on the alloy surface hindered the tape's ability to adhere effectively, which resulted in a temporary setback.
