The concluding clashes of the New Sith Wars included the Third Battle of Ruusan. After their triumph in the prior conflict above the planet of Ruusan, the conquering Sith constructed a ground base and maintained their ships in orbit. Thousands of Jedi, led by Lord Hoth—the newly formed Army of Light—landed on Ruusan with the goal of eliminating the Sith forces stationed there, while Skere Kaan and his primary forces were busy conquering the Bormea sector. The Jedi, opting for single- and double-pilot fighters instead of larger warships, successfully bypassed the Sith fleet, and their command of the Force proved too much for the standard Sith foot soldiers.
Kopecz escaped to the Bormea sector to deliver news of the loss to Lord Kaan. The announcement of the Army of Light explained the recent lack of Jedi Masters that Kaan had noticed in recent battles. His concerns now confirmed, the Sith quickly moved toward Ruusan to reclaim the world and confront his adversary, Lord Hoth.
In the aftermath of the war, the Third Battle of Ruusan gained recognition as one of Lord Hoth's most significant achievements.
