Tholon, a desolate rocky world abundant in diverse ores, existed in the Wild Space region as a planet inside the star system bearing the same designation. The Human scout Casti Tholon made its initial discovery around 2 ABY.
Rim Commercial Mining employed Tholon at that time, and subsequently honored her by naming the planet after her. This Wild Space planet became a major source of revenue for Rim Commercial Mining, solidifying its position as a top mining enterprise within the Outer Rim Territories'; it was also regarded as the most significant discovery made by Tholon.
The initial mention of Tholon occurred within Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 resource for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. The 2009 reference work, The Essential Atlas, located the Tholon system, and consequently the planet Tholon itself, at grid coordinate H-17.
