Tinebacks, characterized by their sturdy builds and spiked tails, were sizable beings originally from the craggy planet of Ruhnuk. Renowned for their burrowing habits, these creatures traversed the landscape, from canyon floors to the edges of cliffs, in groups referred to as "mixes," which could vary significantly in number, from small gatherings to large swarms. They typically built their nests in close proximity to areas where water was accessible, even if shallow. The Waterworks was a location they favored. Several subspecies of Tinebacks existed, including the "Knock-Kneed," the "Dulcet Tone," and the celebrated Essa'Mu variant.
Their diet often included the Irewing, whose scent was particularly alluring to the Tineback's keen sense of smell. Consequently, Tinebacks possessed the ability to jump considerable distances, reaching impressive heights. Dewbacks were also occasionally consumed, prized for their nutritious meat, though only the swiftest and most powerful Tinebacks were successful in hunting them.
It was known that Ash'ad beastmasters would tame them. However, capturing a Tineback was a notoriously difficult feat. To subdue these creatures, electrified durasteel nets were employed alongside tranquilizers.
