Biography

Tobias Pall (top left) accompanies Amidala to the Gungan Sacred Place.

Tobias Pall, a Human sergeant in the Security Guard of the Royal Naboo Security Forces, experienced the Trade Federation's invasion of the planet Naboo in 32 BBY. He and his fellow Security Force members were flushed out of the swamps by Single Trooper Aerial Platforms, an experience that, according to Pall, mirrored the local Gungans' methods of hunting gumbols.

The officer was also on hand at the Gungan Sacred Place when Queen Amidala of the Naboo—after revealing her true identity following the use of a decoy—approached the Gungan Boss Nass, seeking an alliance to repel the Trade Federation. Pall emulated Amidala by kneeling before Nass and remained by her side after the Gungan leader accepted the proposal. Subsequently, members of the Security Guard went with Amidala as the Naboo infiltrated the capital city of Theed, reconquered the Theed Royal Palace, and apprehended Viceroy of the Trade Federation Nute Gunray.

The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels introduced the name "Tobias Pall."

Tobias Pall originated as a background figure in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, part of the prequel trilogy, where an uncredited actor played him. His initial appearance, however, was in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace Movie Storybook, published by Random House on May 3, sixteen days before the movie's May 19 premiere; the book featured a screenshot from the then-unreleased film including Pall. The name "Tobias Pall" was first formally established in the 2003 reference book The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, authored by W. Haden Blackman. This name was subsequently applied to the character from the film in "Rogues Gallery: Naboo's Finest!," a feature in the Star Wars Insider magazine's 145th issue, released on October 22, 2013.
