They could be consumed orally, where they would melt and release flavors, or they could be broken and their aromas inhaled. Certain touchstones incorporated the scent of flower, vanilla syrup, or cinnamon-flavored liqueur, and were manufactured in star, triangle, or sphere shapes.
Jerec enjoyed touchstones, both for his own consumption and for the purpose of offering unpleasant-tasting ones to his underlings, knowing they would not decline the offer due to pride.
On one occasion, he presented a touchstone to Sariss that emitted a foul odor, prompting Boc Aseca to mock her.
