The Tra'kad, a starship class, was a Mandalorian Protector design that debuted around 40 ABY and was designed to work alongside the Bes'uliik. Functioning primarily as an assault vehicle, troop transport, and fire support platform, it was a sluggish but heavily armored vessel often characterized as a "flying tank."
MandalMotors engineered the Tra'kad following an agreement with the Verpine after a fresh deposit of the almost-indestructible Mandalorian iron was unearthed on Mandalore. Featuring six cannon turrets positioned on both the upper and lower hull, as well as at each corner, in addition to interchangeable rotating weapon platforms on its dorsal surface, the ship boasted complete coverage due to overlapping firing arcs. The ship, including its weapons, could be operated manually.
To the dismay of the Verpine, the Tra'kad had a rather primitive design. Despite this, Mandalorians found it more attractive because it could operate for a short time without power. This proved useful during the Second Battle of Fondor, where they were able to hide among wreckage and destroyed ships, providing ideal support for the main assault on the Bloodfin.
The term Tra'kad comes from the Mandalorian language, and its approximate translation is "StarSaber".
