Nute Gunray while he was the Trade Federation Minister within the Galactic Senate. The role of Trade Federation Minister existed inside the Trade Federation, and it seems that it was the same as being a Senator. Nute Gunray held the Trade Federation Minister position throughout the Stark Hyperspace War. Following Gunray's promotion to Viceroy when the war concluded, Lott Dod replaced him. Dod was still in this role even after the Clone Wars had started.
