Tritium

Tritium, an elemental substance, could be combined with liquid hydrogen in an enriched state to serve as an inexpensive reactor fuel. Furthermore, Tritium played a role in the creation of mining drills.

Behind the scenes

In reality, tritium exists as a radioactive, extremely heavy isotope of hydrogen. It manifests as a light, colorless, odorless, flammable, and radioactive gas. It is true that it can be incorporated into fusion fuel by mixing it with liquid deuterium; however, its rapid decay rate, which hinders extended storage, adds complexity to this process.
