True Gunner represented the most prestigious level of gunnery achievement attainable within the Alliance to Restore the Republic's structure.
While serving with the Tierfon Yellow Aces before his transfer to Rogue Squadron, Lieutenant Wes Janson was presented with the True Gunner's badge. General Jan Dodonna stated at the presentation held at Tierfon Rebel Outpost that this was due to his "steady brilliance and exceptional skill as both a leader and a gunner."
