TX-65 X-wing starfighter
The Trainer-X, officially designated as the TX-65 X-wing starfighter, functioned as a starfighter within the ranks of the New Republic, primarily serving as the go-to vessel for instructing aspiring pilots.
Features
This starfighter was essentially a modified version of the widely utilized T-65 X-wing starfighter, sharing a similar appearance with the original. However, it featured a broader body to accommodate an enlarged cockpit, twice the size of the T-65's. This expanded cockpit housed two pilots: a student pilot and an experienced instructor, who monitored the trainee, provided guidance, and tracked the starfighter's performance to avert potentially devastating incidents.
The TX-65 X-wing was equipped with four deactivated training laser cannons, situated at the tips of its four S-foils. Furthermore, it included a hyperdrive system.
Operational Timeline
The TX-65 X-wing starfighter was actively utilized by the New Republic around the time of the Black Fleet Crisis, roughly between 16 and 17 ABY.
Every pilot trainee was required to gain experience on a TX-65 X-wing before receiving authorization to operate a T-65 X-wing or proceeding to advanced training with the E-wing escort starfighter.
