TY-KO functioned as a protocol droid, finding its assignment at Sentinel Outpost located on Corellia throughout the period of the Galactic War.
The character TY-KO made its debut in Game Update 1.1 for Star Wars: The Old Republic. This was included as an homage to the Penny Arcade webcomic, where Tycho, a central figure, voiced his wish in a comic strip to embody an archaeologist protocol droid named "TY-KO" rather than assume the roles of a Sith or a bounty hunter.
