Tybert Capucot, a male Human Imperial officer, held the rank of Captain. He served on the Imperial customs vessel, the Assessor, operating in the vicinity of The Pit in the time leading up to the Battle of Yavin.
Capucot, leading a heavily armed team, boarded the vessel known as the Millennium Falcon to search for spice. Han Solo was transporting spice from Kessel to Tatooine for Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Fearing arrest for himself and Chewbacca, and the impounding of the Millennium Falcon, Solo jettisoned the spice. He also carried children rescued from the Ylesian spice colonies after a Rebel raid. Despite the search, Capucot's team found no spice. Acknowledging Solo's actions, Capucot chose to escort him to Corellia to deliver the rescued children, preventing Solo from retrieving the jettisoned spice.
A. C. Crispin, the author of Rebel Dawn, put the naming rights for Capucot's character up for auction during the writing process. The auction's earnings were donated to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Emergency Fund, a fund designed to assist freelance writers with insurance. Two fans joined funds to secure the auction, and Crispin then crafted the name Tybert Capucot by combining elements of both of their names.
