Unidentified Rebel major
This controller, an older male Human, was stationed at Echo Base on the planet of Hoth in 3 ABY, serving the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During the Battle of Hoth, he stood against the Galactic Empire from the base's command center. He was one of the last two controllers remaining at their stations, alongside Toryn Farr, when Princess Leia Organa gave the official command for all Rebel troops to withdraw and commence the ultimate escape from Hoth.
Behind the scenes
The character initially appeared as an uncredited background actor in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, played by the American actor Jerry Harte, who received credit as the "Head Controller" at Echo Base. However, the Star Wars Insider 74 article titled Who's Who in Echo Base incorrectly identifies Jerry Harte as playing Romas Navander, an Echo Base controller. The role of Navander was actually portrayed by Burnell Tucker.
