These creatures, described in legends, were sizable, four-legged, brown, terrestrial animals characterized by multiple horns, a partial exoskeleton, prominent fangs, and tails adorned with spikes. Their dietary habits remain a mystery, leaving it unclear whether they were meat-eaters or plant-eaters. The predatory hyenax posed a threat to their existence, hunting them for sustenance.
During the year 0 ABY, an individual from this species found itself under assault by a group of hyenax. In an act of self-preservation, the creature managed to eliminate several of its attackers. However, its resistance proved futile when the pack's newly appointed leader, Darth Vader, intervened, providing assistance to the hyenax. Vader's presence on Vaal was a result of a crash landing shortly after the pivotal Battle of Yavin.
