The uranium/pollonium-236 tactical demolition charge, also known as the UP236-TDC, represented a demolition charge design. This device incorporated a diminutive uranium disc alongside a pollonium-236 wedge, both enveloped by several shaped charges. Functioning as a compact nuclear bomb in principle, the UP236-TDC triggered nuclear fusion via kinetic energy. Its diminutive form factor, coupled with substantial explosive power, rendered the TDC highly desirable for scorched-earth tactics throughout the Cold War.
