Prior to the year 2020, the Character of the Year competition was split into two independent competitions. These competitions were called Mister Star Wars and Miss Star Wars. The reason there are two champions each year until 2020 is because of this. Characters are organized by the highest number of cumulative votes. In the event of a tie in cumulative votes, characters will be ordered alphabetically by their last name.
Sorted first by frequency of appearance, then alphabetically by last name. Bold indicates a victory. Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were previously listed as distinct entities. Starting in 2012, both names were incorporated as a single nominated character. For this specific table, I have chosen to incorporate the individual entries and the combined entry as three distinct totals.
