Transport

A transport was commonly a starship designed for the purpose of carrying either cargo or passengers. However, the term could also apply to other kinds of vehicles that served a similar purpose.
Key Attributes
Transports exhibited a remarkable range in physical size. This ranged from compact light freighters, such as the YT-1300 produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, to gigantic vessels capable of holding thousands of tons of goods and featuring docking bays for smaller transports.
Transports like freighters and passenger liners typically lacked armaments and were not built to withstand combat situations, making them slow and vulnerable. Nevertheless, these vessels could be readily modified into formidable combat ships, a practice often employed by pirates and smugglers. Military forces also repurposed transports for moving troops and providing logistical support during battles. For instance, the Imperial Navy utilized the Sentinel-class landing craft, manufactured by Cygnus Spaceworks, to quickly deploy its forces onto planetary surfaces. The Death Watch Mandalorians made use of Gauntlet fighters to move their warriors and offer tactical support.
An example of a non-spacefaring transport is the Gungan bongo submarine, an aquatic vehicle used by the Gungans of Naboo for underwater travel.
