Vector Prime television commercial

The Vector Prime television spot, designed to advertise the novel The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime—the initial book in The New Jedi Order series—debuted in late 1999. Mark Hamill provided the narration, portraying Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and his voice accompanied a sequence of scenes extracted from the Original trilogy, set to the music of The Emperor's Theme.

Beginning Monday, October 18, 1999, the advertisement was broadcast on both the Sci-Fi Channel and FX. It was shown numerous times in the following weeks to promote the book, including during prime viewing hours. On FX, the commercial aired during syndicated broadcasts of The X-Files and Millennium. Eventually, a digital copy of the commercial was uploaded to the StarWars.com website, allowing viewers to watch and download it.

In 2022, a Twitter user inquired if Mark Hamill recalled recording the voice-over for the commercial, and they shared a link to a remastered version of it. Hamill responded to the tweet with the video, saying, "Wow. I have no memory of doing this at all. It's like seeing it for the first time," and he liked the tweet.
