Vek Drow, an Ishi Tib who operated as a merchant in Mos Espa, found himself in a precarious situation during the era of the Invasion of Naboo. His shop was saved from a robbery due to the intervention of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Jinn, while in search of a hyperdrive generator among the various vendors, noticed Drow being targeted in an attack. Jinn quickly subdued the pair of Rodian criminals who were harassing Drow. As a result, Drow provided Jinn with an engine binder, which Jinn needed to barter for components that Anakin Skywalker required to repair his podracer so that he could compete in the Boonta Eve Classic podrace.
Once Drow hands over the engine binder to the player, he ceases further communication with Jinn. Should the player attempt to speak with Drow again, Drow will simply state that he has already provided the engine binder to Jinn. The player is then required to complete additional side quests to gather the necessary parts for repairing the podracer.
