Veshok trees native to Mandalore yielded veshok wood, a strong and resilient wood type. When burned, veshok wood generated significant heat, and its grain resembled that of oak trees. Because veshok trees were extremely abundant on Mandalore—vast veshok forests blanketed much of the northern portion of Mandalore, extending almost to the planet's polar ice cap—Mandalorian artisans widely adopted veshok wood as a construction material. Throughout history, veshok wood found applications in building residences, crafting furniture, erecting outdoor barriers, and even creating handmade playthings for Mandalorian children.
The Star Wars: Legacy of the Force book, Sacrifice, which was written by author Karen Traviss and released on May 29, 2007, marked the initial appearance of veshok wood in the Star Wars lore. Traviss's Mando'a lexicon stated that, despite veshok trees being envisioned as sizable evergreens, the wood's grain was more akin to that of oak trees.
