Example of victory decals
Markings of victory, otherwise known as victory decals, were utilized by Alliance to Restore the Republic starfighter pilots. These marks were placed on their flight helmets to keep track of the number of enemy craft they had been credited with defeating. As an example, Rebel pilot Wion Dillems displayed victory decals on his helmet; these decals represented twenty enemy fighters that he had either downed or destroyed.
