Viper wasps originated on the world of Yavin 4. These stinging insects made their homes within vines, and would attack in large groups when bothered. If a person was exposed to a large amount of viper wasp venom, it could result in symptoms such as: abdominal cramps, diarrhea, jaundice of the eyes, numbness in the hands and feet, sores on the inside of the mouth, and hormonal imbalances. The insects could be repelled by using smoke.
While looking through the forest for a way to treat Derek Klivian, Biggs Darklighter inadvertently sliced through the vines of a viper wasp nest. He was able to use a smoke grenade to escape their assault, and avoided any major harm.
