Vischera

Vischera, a Human male of questionable sanity, found himself in the service of the Galactic Empire in the period immediately following the Clone Wars. Initially employed by the Empire as a scientist, Vischera later transitioned to the Imperial Military, ultimately taking command of a clandestine Imperial prison situated on the planet of Felucia. Intrigued by historical experiments conducted by the Techno Union aimed at transforming Nelvaanians into fierce warriors, Vischera sought to replicate this process using captured Felucians. Through manipulation of their genetic structure and months of dedicated research, he successfully engineered two fully compliant Felucians, who then served as his personal bodyguards.

When Gilder Varth, a former Admiral in the Imperial ranks, was discovered communicating with the anti-Imperial Alderaanian Resistance, he was imprisoned within Vischera's facility. The Resistance dispatched a team to Felucia with the objective of liberating Varth. Following their successful infiltration of the prison, Vischera confronted them in the command center, but he was ultimately overcome.

Biography

During the years after the Clone Wars, Vischera, a Human male, worked as a scientist for the Galactic Empire. He eventually transferred to the Imperial Military, achieving the rank of captain and becoming the commander of an Imperial prison on the planet Felucia. He maintained his interest in scientific pursuits and investigated various secrets acquired by the Empire. The Empire possessed information about experiments conducted during the Clone Wars by the Techno Union on Nelvaan, aimed at transforming Nelvaanians into formidable warriors subservient to their creators. Fascinated, Vischera devised a plan to replicate this experiment on captured Felucians.

Vischera converted the prison's medical bay into a laboratory and hired medical researchers to assist him in experimenting with the Felucian genetic code. He directly altered the DNA of numerous Felucians, using stimulants to stabilize the changes. In two early subjects, he removed their right forearms and induced mutations in their upper arms, transforming them into sharp blades. He also incorporated chitinous scales from a species of rancor, enhancing their strength and aggression. Vischera continued to refine his alterations, keeping subjects from various stages of the process alive for observation. After months of research, he successfully created two fully obedient Felucians, named Hagark and Kargrek, who became his personal bodyguards after completing combat training. At some point, Vischera also engineered a novel virus that, when contracted by Felucian children, caused muscle atrophy leading to paralysis.

After Imperial Admiral Gilder Varth was discovered communicating with the anti-Imperial Alderaanian Resistance, he was arrested and imprisoned in Vischera's facility. A group of Resistance agents were sent to rescue Varth. They infiltrated the prison and freed him. Alerted to their presence, Vischera waited in the command center to confront them, as it was the only route to escape. Accompanied by his Felucian bodyguards and four stormtroopers, he ordered Hagark and Kargrek to protect him when the Alderaanian agents entered the room. He then instructed the stormtroopers to attack and assisted them by firing his blaster pistol at any agents who proved difficult to subdue. Despite his efforts, Vischera was defeated, and the other Imperials were overcome, allowing Varth and the Alderaanian agents to escape.

Personality and traits

Vischera was thin, with gaunt features and sunken eyes, giving him an emaciated look. His spiky hair was beginning to turn gray during his time as commander of the Felucian prison. Despite his high intelligence, he was cruel and sadistic, making him a dangerous and effective servant of the Empire. He became obsessed with his experiments on the Felucians, driving him to partial insanity and a willingness to defend his facility to the death.

Vischera was proficient in multiple languages; in addition to Basic, he spoke Bocce, Durese, and High Galactic.

Behind the scenes

Vischera was created by Rodney Thompson for The Traitor's Gambit, the opening scenario of the Dawn of Defiance campaign, a Wizards of the Coast online supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. In the supplement, players roleplay as the Alderaanian Resistance agents, and they have the option to kill Vischera during their encounter.
